In honour of its 68-year existence, dealership Jaguar Land Rover Hillcrest, along with 50 Defender and Series owners, will host a special ‘commemorative convoy’ to celebrate the end of the iconic British classic that’s well-loved all across the African continent.

LONG LIVE THE LEGEND

landy_fest-60Is moving the lawn or painting the roof seems like a mundane chore for a Saturday? Are you looking for an excuse to get out and enjoy the sunshine? Then make sure you join JLR Hillcrest and a group of 50-plus Defender/Series owners on Saturday (16 April 2016) as they embark on a ‘commemorative convoy’ in honour of the venerable Defender vehicle that ceased production at the end of January 2016.

Defender and Series owners will gather at the convoy meeting point at the K9 Unit in Shongweni between 08h30 – 09h30 to register. From here, the convoy will take a nice slow and scenic drive to Killarney 4×4 Off-Road Track in Durban. According to Jessica Tait, hostess at JLR Hillcrest, “We’re expecting a lot of historic and classic Series model to come through and join us on the day.”

She adds that JLR Hillcrest will host a fun-filled, family-friendly day at Killarney 4×4 Track. “The day is planned with lots of kids activities, music, food and drink and a dynamic Land Rover Experience terra-pod for owners to test drive and get a feel of what the new range of Land Rover models are capable of.”

Attendees will also be treated to a beautiful 4×4 drive up the mountain at Killarney (4 km).

“We’re urging Land Rover owners to come down to Killarney or join us for the commemorative convoy as we celebrate the iconic Defender in true Land Rover fashion. There’s something for the entire family and it promises to be a lot of fun,” said Tait.

We’ll report on the Defender ‘Commemorative Convoy’ in Issue#20 of Land Rover AFRICA Magazine.
