Ben Saunders, best known for completing gruelling cross-polar expeditions to the North Pole, Arctic or Antarctic, swapped his snowshoes for winter tyres when he drove the Range Rover Sport SVR on a full-scale replica of the Silverstone racing circuit carved on frozen Lake Udjaur in Sweden. Land Rover Experience instructor and former rally champion Minna Sillankorva tagged along. We get her thoughts on the performance of the car.
Land Rover documented polar explorer and adventurer Ben Saunders’ transformation from an ice driving newbie into an experienced veteran in Arjeplog, Sweden, where the automaker carved a replica of the world-famous Silverstone racing circuit on the frozen Lake Udjaur. Land Rover AFRICA Magazine spoke to Land Rover Experience Finland instructor and former rally champion Minna Sillankorva about the capabilities of the Range Rover Sport SVR.
Q: What kind of tyres did you fit on the Range Rover Sport SVR for the ice track?
MS: We fitted Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 SUV studded tyres to the SVR. Other than that, the Range Rover Sport SVR had no special modifications or preparations for the ice track.
